Recording of The Wall, Pink Floyd’s eleventh studio LP, began later that year; the rock opera told the story of Pink, a burned-out rock star based on Waters’ own increasing feelings of isolation. The song starts off with an acoustic guitar, restrung in a fashion similar to Nashville tuning, but with the low E string replaced by a high E tuned two full octaves higher than normal.
