WebSt. Denys was the Father of Natchitoches. He was born in Quebec, Canada, on Sept. 18, 1676, and died in Natchitoches 1744, aged about 68 years. He was buried near the Cathedral, on the spot now occupied by the Natchitoches Drug Co. building. He was a great diplomat, and his control over the Indians was wonderful.
